Is the A.I. for CPU skaters and goalies FAR worse than last years game for 3v3? Posted: 24 Oct 2019 11:17 AM PDT I really can't begin to explain how awful the A.I. is for 3v3 eashl. Me and my friend play 3v3 exclusively and we.have noticed this year the A.I. is fucking horrible. We play wing and center, so the only position left is defenseman. I can't tell you how many times, the defenseman just runs into where me and my friend are skating and just blatantly let's the other team get past us and score. I really want to know how they program their A.I. (in b4 get good) our record is 26-4-0 so don't even start [link] [comments] |
PSA: EASHL Junior Arena issues Posted: 24 Oct 2019 08:23 AM PDT I haven't seen this posted here. In EASHL do not use Junior Arena 1 and 2. The arenas that have 4 rinks in the building. They have been causing big frame rate drops when you play in them. It is unbearable. The last 2 nights I've played mostly every road game I've played, the other team were using them. They are banned in EASHL leagues and multiple people have been having this issue. If you're experiencing unexplained frame issues this is probably why. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Oct 2019 10:21 AM PDT Why hasn't EA brought it back to PC in over a decade? Now the EA apologists will chime in. "But piracy!" Yes, there is piracy in the world. There's even piracy on consoles. Piracy is a fact of life, but there are countermeasures EA can take. The game could very easily just force players to connect to Origin (EA's online distribution platform, just like Steam) first. That way, your user ID is tethered to your product license, and you can now play online. "But cheating!" Again, force the online connection, use Punkbuster, or whatever they're using for Madden (and all of the other multiplayer games on PC like Plants vs. Zombies, etc.) to prevent cheating. "But it doesn't sell enough units!" Okay, this one I take great exception to. Obviously, EA makes money off of it every year. You know how I know this? They make one every year. EA is about making money. They're literally obligated to do so on behalf of their shareholders. If it doesn't sell well enough, you know what might help? Bringing it to the longest-lasting platform and one of the (if not the) consistently biggest spenders in the video game market. PC always tops the charts in terms of software spending. Maybe EA is worried about self-cannibalizing its own sales, but it'll be a cold day in hell before I drop $60 a year to use my own internet connection to play games, and I'm not alone there. Again, please let's not get hung up on platform preference. We all make choices based off of personal preferences and priorities. It's all about opinion, which one shouldn't have to defend. Put yourselves in my (and many others') shoes- You're an NHL fan, you own one of the big three gaming systems, and for some reason (which is a secret known only to EA), you can't play NHL. You haven't been able to play it on your system for over a decade, and you're reliably and consistently ignored by EA. So what do? [link] [comments] |

Ones Eliminator tournament is terrible Posted: 24 Oct 2019 07:26 AM PDT I can't stand this format. Every time I make the finals it takes forever to find a match. I've been sitting here for at least 15 minutes already looking for a match. Time to drop from the tournament, make finals then repeat the cycle. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 24 Oct 2019 08:43 AM PDT So I guess there must have been an update at some point in the last few days... because now teammate AI has somehow gotten worse... pass interceptions are even more ridiculous than ever... and am I the only one experiencing 15 games in a row with scores of like... 1-0... 2-1... 2-0... there's no scoring now. Fuck with sliders and it just makes YOUR team worse... we're winning lots of games... but there's no scoring now. Be a pro, by the way. [link] [comments] |

Are there ever suspensions for game misconducts? Posted: 23 Oct 2019 09:18 PM PDT I've had a few myself and have had some against me. They always mention "there may be other circumstances" or whatever...but I've never noticed it. In Franchise mode [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Oct 2019 04:44 PM PDT A lengthy read from a grizzled old die hard of the 80's who grew up with this game since its inception. Please take a few minutes to read it, and I would love to hear your feedback on my points. I know it's a tough task to ask that you all be civil, and not ignorant , but from the toxicity found with many people in the online nhl community, it's been quite hard. But there are a few honourable opponents out there who make this game what it should be, back and forth, creative , and not stale and scripted like we have. This game is ridden with people repetitively overusing the same handful of 'exploitations' in this game. It's turned into a predictable, totally scripted abuse of the same handful of the same plays over and over again expertly performed by the skilled players. A way of 'draining the swamp' of this toxic gameplay would be to implement a docking point system when most players online , who choose to play to their script,- exposing the SAME button mechanics and scoring the 'same goals' and abusing the popular 'exploits' (- add the new R1 to that list. ) and penalize them through an updated and better tracked statistical system. The first thing would be to bring back the pass attempts/ completion statistic instead of the percentage. When a player chooses to not pass the puck very much, or in some cases at all (break outs , for zone entry, in the O zone, ) that player should get docked some of the points/coins they would have received. Choosing to use ONE player, spam protect puck and deke through the whole team untouched , yeah sure ; every once in a while that's great ; but it happens so often in this game and instead of being penalized for exploitation, those who do this are rewarded ! I once played a guy who passed the puck 8 times in a period. ( I had a buddy over and told him to keep track ) When you're in the offensive zone, and you DON'T move the puck, I feel that you should somehow be penalized, NOT rewarded. There HAS to be a way to implement some sort of penalties for the large group of players who choose to avoid trying to 'play real hockey' There is the online user agreement ( which talks about fair game play and never trying to exploit the game mechanics, etc ) and all I see is people doing exactly the opposite of what the 'rules are ' There's rarely any puck movement , it's all abuse of the much overpowered protect puck and deking mechanics which essentially make it impossible to get the puck back without taking a penalty , the only time the pass is made is after a few minutes of 'one player' skating around and around in the offensive zone and finally finding the cross crease. It's extremely laughable to start a period and to see the opponent score a goal by winning the faceoff back to the defenceman, and then it's the protect puck at all costs, up the ice, in the offensive zone and NOT pass the puck until the cross crease option is there. When the scoring summary is listed, it's a forward scoring , set up from the defenceman, and the second assist is from the centre who took the faceoff MINUTES ago! ( as the guy won the draw to d-man and then dekes through everybody , goes wide, then to the corner ; circles some more, and oh finally a cross crease pass for easy tap in. ) Another thing that really needs to be addressed is the AI goaltender allowing the EXACT SAME BUTTON COMBINATIONS being performed to score THE SAME GOALS over and over. Can't the AI assess and realize that of the 17 shots on target, 14 were of the EXACT SAME BUTTON SEQUENCE, ( for those that try the same cut in wide and like a robot, try for the SAME short side glitch ten times a game ) again- they should be docked points from the repetitive play. How about capping all known 'glitch goals at 2?' The 'short side glitch' - after 2 of the 'exact same button sequence ' the goalie AI should not allow that 'glitch goal ' to go in a third time and you have to move on, try cross crease , and again, after two of the same exact button sequence performed, the AI would keep track of that and not allow it. I've seen such robotic precision done with this move over the years. Just pathetic. I'm sorry for the long rant , but in reality , when there's a 'glitch' or an 'exploit' to be found, which is a violation of the online user agreement , instead of it being addressed and removed; it's PROMOTED! It's promoted here on YouTube channels, on streams , on reditt ) Think of the new R1 self pass glitch which many are added to their 'exploitation abusers playbook' How ridiculous was it last year with this one example of promoting exploitation ? - there was detailed step by step directions as if nasa was going to send a craft to the moon with so many of you 'pros' sharing the 'Gartner Grind' - in how to score more goals more efficiently like a Swiss watch; promoting the exploitation as opposed to removing it. I could go on about how many little things could be done to improve the toxic things found online. How's about this one? Instead of having to waste 25 minutes of your life when the other player decides he only joined the game to leave the controller down and you have to wait through that. So like I mention above , instead of being penalized for this , they're rewarded! If I choose to quit the game, I take the loss, he gets the win and coins. How is this not easily addressed ? Anytime a control is inactive for 10 seconds it could have a timer. If reached zero TWO times then that player who left should get the loss , and you get to exit without penalty or any other negative rating/rank etc The worst argument is to be told to 'defend it then' to play skillzone, etc. To basically say , expect this to happen all game, so instead of us having a much more free flowing, back and forth UNSCRIPTED game; I'm going to make you play 'defend against the common scripted 'glitch' attempts ' and you're in for one long repetitive glitch fest. Creativity , puck movement, nice plays, that's hockey!! Let's play hockey! It's a shame that they're are so many out there who seem to be oblivious to this fact when called out on it. The fact that there's anonymity online plays a huge part too, back in the day, when you'd ' exploit the glitch' and force the other guy to 'defend the cheapy' ( yes. There have been glitch goals since day one! ) We had no internet , we would be beside each other playing, and if one guy was an exploiter ; and continuously kept doing the same cheap crap , you know what he'd get ? A punch to the head or maybe just a Charley horse depending on if it was family or not. ;) So the next time you play, ask yourself. Ok. I won, but did I deserve a shot to the head for the way I won it ?' The majority of you all would have black eyes. I'd love to hear your feedback on this.
