Stick infractions are out of control Posted: 09 Nov 2019 08:36 AM PST It's a shame that they have to artificially prevent defensive play by causing your player to do stupid shit when all you do is hit poke check or stick lift. Like sometimes you lift a stick and it works and other time they just hook them, like it's not even the same movement it makes no sense that they'd do that. Same goes for poke checks, randomly your player will just go full on ankles when that almost never happens in real life. [link] [comments] |

New to the Series: frustration with jump between difficulty levels Posted: 09 Nov 2019 11:25 AM PST So I've actually been trying to get into hockey in general lately, as I grew up in a city without a team and a few years ago moved to a city that has a long history of hockey, so a few days ago I spent like 6 dollars so I could pick up an older ea NHL game (NHL 17) just so I could enjoy playing a sim of the sport. So far it has been a bit of an exercise in frustration. I started out on semi-pro and pretty quickly got at least a basic hang of the controls, and within a day or so I got to the point that I would be winning every game against the cpu like 12-2. I figured that meant that it was time to up the difficulty to pro, but after doing so I'm now losing literally every game like 6-1. Like I know what my biggest weaknesses are, but honestly I don't know how to overcome them. I tend to have a lot of trouble aiming my shots and passes due to that fact that I have to do it with the same stick that's used to move my player. this leads to a lot of situations where either: a) a pass ends up going in a completely different direction than I intend it to as i'll end up changing the direction i'm pointing my left stick in at the last second b) my shots end up being really badly places and I hit them directly at the goalie or c) I make the conscious effort to specifically aim my shots, and in the time I take to try doing that I get the puck taken from me what should I do? I really want to enjoy this game but so far neither of the difficulty settings have been allowing me to do so. Any advice? [link] [comments] |

Playing Bap. Injuries every game... Posted: 08 Nov 2019 05:22 PM PST This games so bad 😂 I get injured for 79 days. 79. I cant sim right to end of injury for some... stupid stupid reason. So I'm simming a game at a time. And LITERALLY the team is dying out there. Every game someone's injured. Sooo realistic... Edit: first game back. Injured another month. Getting hit by the AI while they're standing still apparently ends careers. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 08 Nov 2019 08:44 PM PST The one and only tuner we have for NHL 20 plays worse than almost any of the NHL 19 tuners. The gameplay feels like it's regressed 5 years, largely because of how bad this tuner is. Maybe it's good for online modes, I don't play that trash anymore, but the game feels absolutely atrocious against the CPU. The defensive skills stick does absolute nothing, hits barely work, and poke checks might knock the puck off but very rarely result in an actual turnover since the CPU picks up all loose pucks instantly like a vacuum. EA - I stopped expecting you to improve gameplay annually many years ago, but ffs, stop making it worse. [link] [comments] |
