Need some help - can't seem to score in NHL 20 Posted: 27 Apr 2020 07:30 AM PDT Hi All. I'm a first time player. Game is fun so far, but I'm having a lot of difficulty getting any kind of consistency when in the offensive zone. I'm currently playing on Pro, because semi-pro is a joke and I blow the AI out 10+ to nothing. I think I'm having a couple issues, some are on me and some are more about the game (or my ability to manipulate it to get AI to do what I want). I'd appreciate advice on any of these! First, I already know I suck at aiming. I find it very difficult to aim with the same stick that is simultaneously controlling my player movement while also having to consider whether the player I just passed to is left or right handed and being aware of the goalie position and being aware of all the defenders. I've had an embarrassing number of shots end up going all the way back to my own goalie. It also seems like to aim your shot low you have to slow down or basically start turning around (Causing your shot to go backwards) because of how the controls are configured. My shots end up going high and I get a lot of dingers. I've also noticed that one-timers are an excellent way to get goals - problem is my guys never seem to be anywhere near a remotely good position. My center and wingers are pretty much always covered and the AI are able to intercept passes like nothing, so I can't really try risky passes (there's really no reward, only risk since they are always intercepted). I'm not sure if this is the AI being dumb or my inability to create opportunities. I think related to my last line, I find it very difficult to enter the zone much past the blue line once defenders get there. I'm generally pretty cautious, but the fact that body checks almost always result in a lost puck makes it difficult, and the ai are pretty good about poke checking. To complicate things a bit, I'm really struggling with deke controls to outplay the AI. Simple ones like windmill deke are only so effective, the rest feel like they require me to press so many buttons in a particular order at a particular time while also moving my stick in a certain way - I just can't get it consistently (and honestly I keep forgetting how to do most of them). Also if anyone has a good method for scoring on a breakout I'd appreciate some advice. Pretty much all my goals come from a lucky break because I'm just hammering so many away (a rebound or goalie fucks up) or catching the goalie out of position with a good pass. I've gotten a lot of responses. Thanks all. [link] [comments] |

Any way to not be drafted by NJ after the memorial cup in NHL 18? Posted: 27 Apr 2020 08:56 AM PDT I saved right after the cup and every time I reload I get picked 1 by the devils. How long would it take me to get traded to a team I like? Or am I better off starting be a pro and pick my team? I figured I'd have better stats and better chance to skip the minors coming from memorial cup [link] [comments] |
Looking for tips to playing high level defence in 3s. Posted: 27 Apr 2020 06:54 AM PDT I am trying to be mindful of improving my defensive play, I know some teams out there are awesome so obviously I have could learn a whole bunch. Any tips? [link] [comments] |
NHL20 actually is the best NHL game in the last half decade Posted: 26 Apr 2020 12:36 PM PDT This may be an unpopular opinion, I know it's real easy to complain about this game, but I was feeling nostalgic this week in isolation and dusted off NHL16, 17, 18, and 19, and they made me appreciate 20 a lot more. Some of the menus and aspects of gameplay were actually shocking and I was surprised how far the game has actually come in the last half decade. I still recognize how fantastic oldies like 99, 2003, and 06 were, but the current game is not too bad. I will say though that NHL2k5 is the best hockey game ever, time for 2k to give EA some competition again. [link] [comments] |

Is it worth it to edit the Alumni rosters and make players too? Posted: 26 Apr 2020 04:46 PM PDT Wanted to do this for a while, was wondering if anyone has done it and if they have what are the rosters used? I'm really looking forward to play with the Russian five [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Apr 2020 03:18 PM PDT I play Xbox sparingly to say the least, how come I cant fucking play a game with the Avalanche with Rantanen and Kadri right now? What the fuck is wrong with this fucking game? [link] [comments] |
