Clock change during a face off? Posted: 27 Mar 2021 09:35 AM PDT I didn't record it (I should have) but when I was lining off for a face off the clock changed from 28.0 seconds left to 27.0 seconds. Is this a glitch or is it "immersion" where they are fixing the game clock like they might in real life? [link] [comments] |

EA Sports and their disciplinary actions Posted: 27 Mar 2021 09:22 AM PDT Id like to start by saying my EASHL club has existed for the past 4 NHL titles and not once has it ever been penalized for an offensive name, despite having the same name each year. I get that this is a kids game and EA wants a clean environment for them to enjoy an online game. However my clubs name is not racist, homophobic or hateful in anyway. My clubs name is "RightInTheKuch", making a joke about Nikita Kucherovs nickname. I get it may be a little crude, but not offensive enough for my club name to be changed to a generic, unchangeable name, nor for mine and my brothers EA accounts to be suspended for 3 days on a first time offense. Why is there not an in game pop-up, giving us a warning about our name and a chance to re-name our club, with further infractions resulting in a more severe punishment? All in all I think a 3 day suspension and forced club name change is a bit excessive for a first time offense. I feel a warning and a chance to change the name ourselves would be a more appropriate response. We aren't intentionally breaking a rule, we're just having a little fun with our club name. TL;DR: Got reported for offensive name, butthurt about the excessive punishment handed down from the EA overlords [link] [comments] |
How to become captain/alternate? Posted: 27 Mar 2021 08:51 AM PDT What do you need to do to become captain/alternate? Do you need high ovr, good stats, good teammate/management stats, all of them? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 26 Mar 2021 05:45 PM PDT Today I did a test to see what my skill level for playing goalie is, and therefore what difficulty level the AI should be set to so that the play is still fun to play, yet challenging. I want the stats for a rookie goalie to be realistic. As the goalie's OVR increases, the stats of said goalie in their prime should be realistic as well. So, I decided to play a Play Now game on each difficulty level to see what my stats would be if my goalie was in his "prime" in regards to overall. In theory, whatever difficulty level I got realistic starting goalie stats in, that was the difficulty I would play BAP in. I chose to play as Tuukka Rask on the Bruins against the Lightning for each game, so as to eliminate any variables with different team overalls etc. I played ten minute periods instead of playing many games, to make data collection easier yet still give me a large sample size. Essentially I asked, "what is my save percentage after 30 minutes of real-time play?" Results:Rookie: SOG: 41 | GA: 2 | SV%: .951 | Game Score: 8-2 (W) Semi-Pro: SOG: 34 GA: 0 SV%: 1.000 Game Score: 10-0 (W) Pro: SOG: 24 | GA: 4 | SV%: .833 | Game Score: 5-4 (OTW) All-Star: SOG: 34 | GA: 6 | SV%: .824 | Game Score: 1-6 (L) Superstar: SOG: 45 | GA: 6 | SV%: .867 | Game Score: 7-6 (OTW) From this I appear to gain nothing, as the data is unexpected and seemingly random. For example, I expected my worst save percentage to be on Superstar, but instead it was on All-Star. You'd figure I'd get a shutout on Rookie, but instead it occurred on Semi-Pro. What I did get, however, was a sense of what difficulty felt the most balanced, despite the stats. Strangely I felt most at home on All-Star, where I had the worst SV%. I found that the goals scored on me were just good goals that didn't feel cheap or that the game was making them go in just to synthetically make the game feel harder. I'm not sure what to deduce from this. Tips:Because I had to play this exact same game for about five hours, I did pick up a few goalie tips as I went along. For example, I cannot understate how important it is for your goalie to not be moving his feet when trying to stop a shot. You are better off standing slightly out of position and not moving than to be moving in attempt to be square, if you have to choose, while the puck is in the air. Always have your goalie's feet set when taking a shot. Another thing I discovered is a little known fact - that being if you hold down the left stick (LS), your goalie will do the normal sideways shuffle, but much quicker. This is incredibly useful for tracking passes in close and on breakaways because the normal shuffle is too slow and T-Pushing (holding LT, in non-goalie terms) almost always throws you way out of position and doesn't trigger save animations. That also links in with needing to have your feet set in order to stop a puck. Now I'd like to bring up my most underrated tip in my opinion. This is one that I've known for a while now. When going up to the post for pucks on the goal line or behind the net, absolutely never just do the standing lock (pressing RB) or, even worse, VH (RB+RT). When the puck is returned to somewhere not behind or beside the net, the animation for returning to the normal stance is glitchy, awkward, and full of holes. There are very few save animations the goalie can make when coming out of this, so you will often let in goals this way, as the goalie is just not programmed to be able to stop shots in this position. Just as the VH is beginning to go out of style in today's NHL, it should be going out of style in NHL 21. The alternative is to drop into butterfly and then lock into the post (RT+RB). This is known as RVH to goalies. This will make your goalie put his paddle on the ice when the puck is directly behind the net, he will stand more upright when it's on the goal line, then when the puck is moved to in front of the net, he will return to a normal butterfly. It seals the post, stops 10x more wrap arounds, and is, most beneficially, easy to move out of. The save selection for a goalie in butterfly is so much more than in VH - that's why this is such a game changer. Plus, you can return to your normal stance much quicker this way as well. Conclusion:I will continue to play Play Now games and record my data until I find what difficulty best suits me. There may be a follow up post. If you have any suggestions for this placement, I'd love to hear them. Thank you for reading through all of this! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 26 Mar 2021 02:15 PM PDT This is just ridiculous.... I don't get this Be A Pro system. Before one of my games in Be A Pro with the New York Rangers. Panarin was having a conversation with me. In that conversation I promised 3 points in the next game as well as a goal for one of those points. When I failed that promise and had a conversation with him again. I only had one option. AND IT WAS TO PROMISE ANOTHER 3 POINT GAME. I'm losing likeability from my teammates because of this. This is the most stupid thing I've seen so far and hopefully they can fix it so that I can actually choose what I want to do. [link] [comments] |
