Especially when my team is up 6-1 in the 2nd Posted: 05 Oct 2019 05:02 PM PDT |
Posted: 06 Oct 2019 06:43 AM PDT This has probably been beaten to death, but it is still important to mention. The AI is bad. Like, blindingly obviously bad. I don't really understand why, but ever since NHL 15 it has been terrible. Some examples are glitch goals due to the goalies having poorly crafted coding and animations. When the puck gets free, my players act as if the opposition already has it and rushes away from it. Ice tilt is absolutely atrocious. I can handle momentum. A good fight, a goal, even an intermission can break momentum and it is beneficial to fight harder and gain it back in your favor. But some games it feels like the game has already decided who will win, and the predetermined loser will always have bullshit poured onto them. The worst is the way that if you are leading (even by a big number) the AI decides that the game should now become a comeback story of the century. My Defense turns to pylons who can't skate or pick up the puck, my wingers decide the puck isn't that important if it's free, and my goalie suddenly has a mental breakdown. The passing is consistantly inconsistant. Especially if I make a good, solid pass and the defender standing infront of my winger reads it like a book and picks it up like an anime villian who knew my plan all along. Plot twist! This usually leads to a goal. Poke checking. This, I personally don't have as much of a problem anymore as I have learned how to use it effectively, and drawing fewer penalties. Note fewer. Any poke check behind the man IS a penalty. Never missing a beat, the player puts on his scuba gear and goes for a solid dive. I can barely brush my stick against his shin like I was gently caressing my lady, and he looks like he just fell off of a mountain. I have learned to combat this, but honest to god I have caught my player poking the opposing player's skates and not the puck when I am perfectly beside him trying to reach in and make a play. Speaking of plays, the AI ignores the very basics of hockey. If I dump the puck, I expect my defender to be at the blueline. Instead, he is booking it for the neutral zone like the opposition already has it because he can't stand the pressure. Everyone is WOEFULLY out of position. When I expect a man to be there, like a regular fucking player from like U15 up should be, he isn't. He just isn't. They have no hustle to get back into play. They have 0 hockey knowledge besides shooting and (sometimes) scoring. Often times they like it so much they put it into their own net, blatantly. I could be sweeping by the net with my player and it will just happen to slip right into the net. EA for the love of god, overhaul the AI. Fix this, please. Hire some former hockey players, even junior leaguers if you can't get former NHLers and have them oversee things dealing with the play of the game, strategies, momentum shifts, and goalie animations. This used to be a thing back in NHL 07, literally the BEST NHL game I have personally ever played. Can we get some of that in this game? Hell, I can settle for an AI overhaul in NHL 21. but PLEASE can we get enough people to be on board to get EA to FINALLY fix this dreadful AI? Fuck hire some 2k guys to help out, I don't care, but if you fix the AI you WILL bring players back, and keep players longer. [link] [comments] |
BAP 2020 minors to NHL draft question Posted: 06 Oct 2019 11:41 AM PDT Can you actually go in the first round now? I was 80+ OA on 2019 and didn't go in the first round. Did they fix this in 2020? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 06 Oct 2019 10:54 AM PDT Anyone else having this problem? I'm in the UK and on PS4. [link] [comments] |

How do you guys play? Advice for getting started? Posted: 05 Oct 2019 06:11 PM PDT I play NHL only intermittently since the Genesis days, and decided to pick this years edition up after a good spell w 19 on EA Access. After playing career mode exclusively there though, I find myself a bit frustrated with the standard 5 on 5 games and feel like I'm having a difficult time finding a happy medium in the difficulty. I play most of my sports games on very hard/hardest, and tend to do ok. In NHL though, it seems like there's an ultra fine line between the game feeling too dumbed down and way too hard. What do you guys like doing in terms of adjustments to sim level and sliders? AI passing and interceptions on superstar difficulty feel utterly automatic, almost like you're being attacked by morse code. Scoring, and even certain scoring opportunities feel more like the result of RNG, due to the AI's ability to come away with the puck. I'm interested to hear from you longer time players on ways you like to balance the gameplay to a preferred experience. I'm enjoying the game and want to get better, but feel like tailoring my experience is something I need help with. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 05 Oct 2019 09:50 PM PDT Looks like all teams have played a game, when will rookies like Gusev be put in? (Will players in the AHL like Kravstov and Shestyorkin be put in as well?) Trying to start franchise modes with some of these teams but not sure who will get put in [link] [comments] |
Does the October roster update include overall/stat changes? Posted: 05 Oct 2019 05:56 PM PDT Or is it just adding in the rookies after playing their first games? [link] [comments] |
Merging rosters unassigns created players from their teams. Posted: 05 Oct 2019 07:26 PM PDT Any way to merge custom and online rosters without my created players being unassigned to their teams? [link] [comments] |

Will prospects develop more if left in juniors or should you play them in the AHL? Posted: 05 Oct 2019 06:34 PM PDT Wondering about leaving prospects on their junior team or if AHL would benefit them more. Would be playing the same amount of minutes [link] [comments] |
