    ELI5 Coaching and Line Chemistry

    I've been playing for a week or so here now and I have some questions on how the coaching staff and line combinations are implemented. I've just had some trouble with player development and chemistry. I mostly sim and play with player morale off.

    1) Do coaches progress? The coach I hired has a C overall rating, but my team has made the playoffs 2 years in a row and he still is a C. Will they ever grow in overall or are they stuck where they are like scouts?

    2) How do you get good chemistry among linemates? I've tried different player type combos but I can never get more than a +1. Is there any sort of forward combo that works best like SNP, PLY, TWF?

    3) How much does the line chemistry hurt/help player development? Like if I just settle for having no chemistry bonus or even just a +1, will my younger prospects not develop as much and potentially not reach their ceiling?

    4) I read something about where if you draft players that don't fit your coaching scheme they won't develop as well. Is this true? And if so, what's the best way to scout if they'll fit your scheme or not?

    5) How much does your coaching staff really affect team chemistry/player progression? Like if I splurge for a great head coach but have bad assistants, will that hurt things for player development/chemistry? Or likewise, if I try to have a solid across the board staff will that make players develop better?

    Do you think they will add new Legendary players?

    Kinda weird playing teams like all time Philly with no Lindros, no Bure on Vancouver etc. Its probably licensing but does anyone know if we can expect any new players in a roster update?

    Any tips to get rid of lag spikes?

    The lag spikes make the game unplayable. I usually play 11-12 ms consistently, but now every 5-10 sec i get huge lag spikes.

    Goalie tips?

    Hello. This is my first NHL in a while and I've never played actual organized hockey bc they don't have it down here in the south where I'm from so I've never had any coaching or anything. But was looking for some basic tips on playing goalie. one main issue I have is sliding across the net real quick to stop a one timer as I have no idea what control I should be using to stop this. Should I RS Butterfly across to it or is there a better way to get there quicker?

    Best lines in Franchise Mode... Uhh what?

    I just got 20 over the weekend (50% off!) and immediately dove into Franchise Mode. I'll admit I'm still figuring out the new system with coaching and chemistry etc, but I noticed something quite odd when I did "best lines"

    The coach thought it wise to put two forwards on the point of PP2.

    Yep. PP2 best lines were

    Kerfoot-Spezza-Johnnson

    Tavares-Matthews

    So, I obviously had to fix that... But.... Wtf?!

    World Juniors in BAP

    I know EA typically doesn't put much effort into Be A Pro or many of the other modes these days but as someone who still plays BAP I'd like to see them get the rights and add the World Junior Hockey Championship. I've recently started a new BAP player and started him in the OHL and just thought that it would be cool to be able to play for your country before getting drafted into the NHL. I mean if EA can manage to get the Champions League for FIFA I can't see how it would be impossible to get the IIHF on board to do the World Juniors.

    What is the “Good Timing” “Lower Skill” in Face-offs?

    I just played a game and almost every face-off I got the green "Good Timing" followed by the red "lower skill" and a loss of the face off. What does it mean? It is very annoying.

    Next roster update

    Would you expect an update tomorrow? They've been consistently putting an update out on the 1st of the month. If not, hopefully this week? I'm patiently waiting to start my season because I want the last of the rookies coming from the NCAA like Bowers, Shortridge, Zech, N Jones, Primeau, Woll, McLaughlin, Newell and a few others. I know it's about licensing but I'm itching to start.

    Franchise Mode Bug????

    Is it just my game or does anyone elses game freeze when simming in franchise mode? I can make it to mid January/February and then bang. Freeze. Tried to save it and then start from mid Jan. Started again. Freeze. Freeze. Freeze. What is going on here???

    Can anyone direct me to a list of the goal celebration controls? I've been looking online and have been u able to locate anything accurate.

    It still blows my mind that the celebration system in this game is so dry. When you have a game like FIFA that has dozens of different celebrations with their own controls.
