Same logos, same jerseys, same features (with a little bit more effort), same HUT cards, it's the same. Where NHL lacks is in many of the things they stripped away. Let's go over some of the things that would make this game DIFFERENT, and EVEN BETTER than previous iterations. BE A PRO- well they did a nice job with the cutscenes I can tell you that, but if you are chosen for an All Star Game is a notification all you get? Is there no physical All Star game to play in like old gen used to have??? I mean would it hurt to maybe add in some All Star game skill games like Accuracy Shooting Challenge at 1:46 of the video, and the Hardest Shot Challenge at like 7:02 in the video. Also how does EA have licenses to international teams but no implementation of them in franchise or BAP? Like put in the damn Olympics or a WJC with the best OHL players or EA generated players. I realize the NCAA and the USNDT are not licensed but come on. Franchise- okay so we got a new ticker for trade deadline but what about FREE AGENT FRENZY?? Is there anything for signings? Do I have to wait a couple days to see if a player signs for my team instead of having them sign when FREE AGENCY starts at 12? Also add in the ALL STAR GAME, the CUP BANNER RAISING, the WINTER CLASSIC/STADIUM SERIES at generic STADIUMS. There's so much potential in this game mode gameplay wise and content wise that's wasted. Other things that could possibly be cool is the drastic changes in market size and how being SUCCESSFUL is important in filling seats. You won't necessarily see a full sell out crowd in ARI, NJ, FLA, but when they do well you will, and thus how well you play determines how much fans you have in the building and how poor shows you how much trouble you have in filling seats, cause to smaller markets in arenas it's not realistic to have a sell out crowd every night. I would also maybe change the Stanley Cup celebration, maybe have the coaches shaking hands, or maybe have an on ice reporter trying to interview a player, maybe have some more cameramen or team executives on the ice, have the team wear Championship hats, it's the aesthetics and the realism. Have the fans STAND UP instead of sitting down, have the fans yelling and screaming, taking pictures, booing, more interactive fans. Roster sharing and custom music- roster sharing is important because of how not all leagues are licensed in the NHL games. It's tedious but with members of the CHEL community who are creative, it's an opportunity to enjoy the game with authenticity in player likeliness. Custom music is great cause we had in old gen and gave us the opportunity to have GOAL SONGS and TEAM INTROS. Winter Classic in HUT and in regular game modes, I really do hope the winter Classic comes back, just the aesthetic of it and how cool it is, it's just so cool. Also bring international teams back into HUT. Situational AI in some cases the AI should be suffocating with their forecheck, they should be calling time outs when they give up multiple goals in succession to slow the game down, they should be calling TIME OUTS when they need to draw a play in the dying seconds of the GAME. Have them be more urgent, have them play like how actual NHL players would play in situations where they are down by a goal, not just leisurely back skating so that I can score an easy empty netter. Maybe making an effort to block the empty netters or to just suffocate me where a chip out of the puck is all it takes for them to regroup in the neutral zone. And also if you WATCH HOCKEY NO TEAM PUTS THEIR 3rd 4th liners on the ICE WHEN THEY ARE IN NEED OF A GOAL with a MINUTE LEFT IN THE GAME. Gameplay maybe instead of glitch goals and skill zoning and short side snipes, make it so that the meta is cycling the puck, forechecking, making it so that the players themselves are more active instead of playing just straight passive defense. The trap is a hockey play but it shouldn't be used all the fucking time. There should be ways to forecheck and beat the trap cause teams in the NHL have done so before. and last but not least GM connected. need I say more? So TLDR: these are some reasons why and how the game can be so much BETTER. We can only hope and I do hope clappy and the Dev team take this to only make their game even better and more enjoyable [link] [comments] |
| NHL21 hands-on from Franchise and roster Posted: 08 Oct 2020 02:19 PM PDT Some answers to questions others here have about franchise mode and state of rosters: Create a team - nothing new, no new logos, jerseys, mascots, arenas Player edit - 8 new celebration, kinda cool, nothing too crazy - some new equipment, but still no new goalie masks🤬 (standart or team neither😔) - bauer supersonic looks nice for players and goalies (these pads😍) - players in edit screen looks nicer, maybe new lighting, or textures? Rosters - european league seems up-to-date - last trade is Domi to CBJ, so Murray is still in PIT - saw some new or updated profile pictures (for example COL Makar and Donskoi) - some new players already with nice new pictures - some players are already missing (COL goalie prospect Justus Annunen was in 20, is signed by COL and last played in Liiga, but its not in the game) Franchise - COL arena isnt Pepsi center but Denver arena, NYI have Islanders arena (dont know how it looks, just the name) - classic franchise starts on 15. september so WHOLE 2020 DRAFT IS MISSING - BUT you will have all eligible players from 2020 draft in 2021 draft, together with 2021 class (so Lafreniere with Aatu Raty) - for example you can move Byfield manually before starting new game to LA and he will be with LA after you start franchise, but he will be marked as undrafted (and you cannot change this in edit player) - you cannot edit player position or player type after you start new save - if the team has enough cap space, they will auto sign all unsigned RFA to 1 year with previous cap hit (for example COL Zadorov signed for 3.200) - if the team hasnt enough cap space, RFA will remain unsigned (for example Barzal, Pulock, Toews for NYI) - everything is the same as was in NHL20, there will be some new features but what isnt new, stays the same, no updates, just new features as record book, deadline day and secondary position for players. Also few new sliders, to have more shots in sim (not tested by me, but hopefully will fix the low GAA for goalies), and also for quality of draft and prospects. Otherwise nothing new AFAIK. Expansion franchise (custom rosters) - starts as usual 18. june - 3rd best chance in draft lottery - you can do real 2020 draft this way, so it is the Lafreniere draft and all other prospects that were already in NHL20 - maybe about 20 real ones from first three rounds (no new ones, others are random generated dudes without profile pictures as usual) - all players from 2020 draft have the same picture as in NHL20 Thats all I have right now. | Posted: 09 Oct 2020 10:25 AM PDT Like I wasn't expecting it to be a perfect game, but I was still probably going to buy it like I do every year. Don't see that happening this year, I'll just stick with 20. Every new feature is just a surface level change, and most of them are filled with bugs. Like they still have the same garbage boring ass training system in BaP whiteout even an option to set custom training sets or anything like that. The secondary positions thing seems like a good idea at first until you realize that apparently every single defender in the league is perfectly capable of playing both sides, and also that there actually isn't any negative impact to putting them out of position anyways. Like BaP is still just aas bad as before, though now its maybe actaully worse because they bog it down with meaningless, repetitive talks with coaches, agents, and media. Like I'm only halfway through my first PRESEASON and it's already obvious that nothing really effects anything, and that there is already repetitiveness to it. Also there are so many conversations that have literally no dialouge choices, or the choices don't have any impact. LIKE WHAT IS THE POINT OF THOSE, JUST REMOVE THEM. Anyways glad I paid ~$5 for the 1 month of EA Play so I could do this trial, so that I know not to bother buying the game this year, thanks EA [link] [comments] |

| Question about shooting accuracy Posted: 09 Oct 2020 08:27 AM PDT I downloaded the trial yesterday and have gotten a couple hours in on BAP. I created a "sniper" and so my wrist shot accuracy is currently sitting at 85. Have they changed shot direction controls ala FIFA where you can't hold the left stick top left or top left, you have to hold short of it? Every shot i take is going way left or right. I've been playing this game for 20 years, so it's not like i don't know how to pick a corner. I'm assuming I'll have to do some free skate and adapt, just didn't want to waste the 10 hours doing that. [link] [comments] |
