$5m under salary cap in GM Mode, but next year’s roster is set to be paid $105m… Posted: 25 Jul 2021 12:41 AM PDT So I just won the Cup in GM Mode, and now I've spent the past few hours focusing on the offseason. The salary cap in my game increased to $87m for this coming season, and my team cap hit is $81.775m. So I have roughly $5m cap space, but my '21-22 roster is set to make a combined $105.8m. How is this possible? I have 5 exempt contracts, but I think they're probably all recent draft picks who are still 18 years old or younger. Has this happened to anyone else? Is the game going to tell me I'm $18m over the salary cap once the season starts and force me to deal players, or will I be able to do what the Tampa Bay just did — kick ass on the way to a second-straight Cup while $18m over the cap? submitted by /u/praytothedeacon [link] [comments]

Finding players with strategy fit Posted: 25 Jul 2021 07:15 AM PDT I'm working on building an expansion team in NHL21 and having difficulty finding a left-shot TWD or DFD defensemen with balanced and cycle strategy tendencies. I've scouted and traded for a bunch that said they were "good pairing fits" in the scouting report - Theodore, Ekholm, Morrissey, Lindholm, Schmidt, Valimaki, Klefbom. At best, all of these players are 1 of 2 for tendency fit. I know I could just hire a new coach, but I have great chemistry on offense and am only missing 1LD spot. Breakout pass?!? Posted: 25 Jul 2021 08:01 AM PDT I'm a right handed center playing left wing because, well EA, but that's neither here nor there. What bothers me is the defenseman's utter stupidity on the breakout. It seems that if I'm anywhere on the wrong side of the blue line (out of the zone) they will hug the boards or get laid out by the forechecker despite me being wide open. I've tried calling for it but that doesn't work either because the pass is garbage 9 times out of 10 and I lose points for "bad call". I'm just not sure if this is meant to be a punishment because I'm in the neutral zone (even though we have possession) or if it's just a programming thing where the computer doesn't "see" you as a target unless you're in the d zone. submitted by /u/The_Shredder_1988 [link] [comments]

This is one of the worst sports games I've played Posted: 24 Jul 2021 08:48 PM PDT From the Franchise Mode that still hasn't changed for years, to Be a Pro with new "likeability rankings" that make no sense. I haven't bought one of the new NHL games since 2018 because I know EA puts no effort into them. But I never thought it would get worse. The mechanics of the game make no sense. Constant tripping calls when I'm trying to dive block and after the shot someone just runs over me. There's like 50 shots per game from each team even after tweaking the sliders. I'd be happy if 2K got a contract with the NHL. I feel like they could do so much better. Although there's improvements that could be made, they do a good job in madden with letting you and your friends pick teams and play seasons as if you were really the owner of the team.
