The Official NHL 21 Closed Technical Test Feedback Thread #1 - EASHL EDITION Posted: 01 Sep 2020 12:52 PM PDT For those who are part of the NHL 21 technical test, you have the option to participate in the feedback forums at EA Sports NHL -- but since they directly stated that they would read feedback on reddit, let's consolidate our very best feedback in this thread. We are going to split them into a megathread for each gamemode, which will rotate every day or every other day until the test concludes. Let's talk about NHL 21 EASHL/World of Chel!If someone has already discussed something when you arrive, expand your own thoughts to their comments rather than only creating your own. The idea is to get a cleaner version of all the positive feedback and constructive criticism that have been mentioned so far so we can help strongly influence any changes made before the official release. Keep in mind that NHL devs and any assigned EA Community Managers can't/won't always interact directly, but I've met members of the dev team in the past and know that they do read and appreciate feedback from our subreddit. EA have kind of backed themselves into a corner with the back skating speed in NHL 21 Posted: 02 Sep 2020 12:40 PM PDT Right now, if you're facing fast forwards as a defender in the technical test, it is pretty much impossible to play tight gap control. They just accelerate right past you (or even through you) unless you time your poke/lift/shove perfectly. This is because the back skating and/or pivoting speed as a defender is slow as molasses right now. Why is this the case? Because they had to nerf the back skating speed so that using L2/LT in the offensive/neutral zone wasn't overpowered anymore. The problem is that the animation/coding for back skating/pivoting appears to be shared all over the ice, so now if you're playing defense you're basically screwed on any 3-on-2 rush if the forwards are fast and capable. They can accelerate right past you and there's nothing you can do to stop it. Not even talking about just the puck carrier either, the other forwards can zoom past you to the net, and unlike the puck carrier there's literally nothing you can do. Not sure what the best compromise is, but the way it's setup right now is a recipe for disaster. It's also why the CPU defenders are getting burned so badly in the test right now. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 02 Sep 2020 12:32 PM PDT Did some different teams, also a rebuild team, and got Deangelo 2 times in a trade and 1 time with the rebuild. Put him with a Defensive Defensemen on his preference play style and my god, this man will blow your mind. (with Pitssburgh, he got the James Norris 5 times in 6 years, and won the Hart Memorial and Ted Lindsay as the first defensemen i ever saw winning this in Franchise Mode). So get yourself a Tony Deangelo !! PS. i hope my spelling is correct, dutch guy over here! [link] [comments] |
How diminished is the online matchmaking community once a new game is launched? Posted: 02 Sep 2020 09:28 AM PDT Once NHL 21 comes out, is it hard to find matches for NHL 20? It's sometimes difficult to find matchups in the existing game so I'd imagine once the new one comes out if becomes a bit harder/takes longer. I'm asking because I don't plan on buying 21, but I also want to be able to kick it on the weekends and play a hockey video game. [link] [comments] |
Question for people who played the beta Posted: 02 Sep 2020 11:22 AM PDT So i dont know if anyoke has an answer for this. But did the AI in the game feel better? Were they actually getting into position instead of standing still? Was there a decent update to how they act in a game? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Sep 2020 11:19 AM PDT What does everyone use for their AI learning and cpu adjustment for sliders? [link] [comments] |
FYI, you can get your WOC human goalie up to 92/92/89/89 in NHL 21 Posted: 01 Sep 2020 10:45 PM PDT 92 Glove High 92 Stick High 89 Glove Low 89 Stick Low Using a hybrid class with the right traits applied. It leaves you with 72 five hole (with a 6'5" goalie) and 86 breakaway, which, depending on who you talk to, may or may not actually have an effect in game, especially if you use manual butterfly/paddle down. NHL recommendation for future titles #1- FACEOFF SYSTEM Posted: 01 Sep 2020 09:57 PM PDT Okay this isn't really a major necessity but I thought of this and I at least found it to be an interesting change. I was thinking that maybe EA can add a more realistic and challenging faceoff system for the future. I don't hate the system they have already, but having the same system for the past 10 years..I just think there's room to improve Watch any real life NHL or even AHL game, watch the faceoffs. Look how quick the guys set and how quickly the ref drops the puck and let the 2 boys fight for the win. I want something fast paced, intense, and competitive like THAT. I think if there was a way to control stick lift movements, body positioning, and even kick a puck back to the defender, it would look so clean. Especially how EA is looking towards more competitive gaming with e Sports, they can actually make this new system a skill to win faceoffs. Obviously it's not a major problem, it's just something that I thought of and wanted to hear what you guys may think. I just think the one they have now still looks very slow, bland, and just doesn't feel like taking a real face off. Let me know! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Sep 2020 04:30 PM PDT I threw this up over at the offical EA forums for NHL 21 as a Gameplay Issue but I figured I'd put it here as well. Most of you won't care about this, I'm sure, but I think it matters. Please observe the video which is actually of NHL 20, but the same thing holds true in 21: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o05CslHL3pY The slap around the boards is a legitimate zone entry in EASHL 6s. This renders it fairly useless if your handedness is wrong. It used to work regardless of handedness. There is a noticeable difference in the speed that a slapshot dump-in goes depending on which side of the boards you are on and your skater's handedness. Observe the video. If you need further proof, I also counted the frames it takes the puck to reach a certain point. I will refer to them in the order of the slapshots in the video: Right Boards: Left Boards: To sum up, if your handedness is the same side as the board you're on, the slapshot dump is hit harder and faster for some reason. I don't remember it being like this in NHL 19, I believe it originally showed up in NHL 20. [link] [comments] |
Thoughts on custom class and pre-build Posted: 02 Sep 2020 05:44 AM PDT Clappy made a poll back in may asking player what they would prefer to have for EASHL. One simple question: Which EASHL Player Class system do you prefer? NHL14 Custom Attributes NHL 20 pre-build + traits Custom attributes won with 80% yet somehow Pre-build are in nhl 21.... Can we just have the same point systeme fifa have. You start with a pre-build. Than for every achivement you make (for exemple score 50 goals, +1 in shots, successfuly deke 50 player = +1 deke) and so on... Eventually you get 99 overall (after a LONG TIME because achievement becomes harder and harder as you progress). I understand you want casual player to not get crush by 99 overall player but then just make matchmaking a little bit more strict and probleme solved. Also with the new rank system I feels it could be the best time to make that transition and do matchmaking by Region and rank. [link] [comments] |
How is the skating customization Posted: 01 Sep 2020 07:23 PM PDT I read on Twitter that NHL 21 has skating customization. How is it. Does it change a lot? [link] [comments] |
The lacrosse goal may be the death of me. Posted: 01 Sep 2020 03:34 PM PDT I CANT DO IT!!! (Which may be a good thing cause that means it's probably not overpowered.) [link] [comments] |

Posted: 01 Sep 2020 06:16 PM PDT I made some trades at the deadline that put me up to the cap, but I didn't realize an injured player's salary isn't being counted. Now they are back, and when they return, the computer won't let me send anyone down since I am now over the cap. My only option is to auto-adjust my roster, but every time it sends my 18-year-old D back to the CHL. Is there any way to send another player down? This glitch is ruining my season, as the playoffs are about to start and there appears no way to avoid sending down one of my key players without being able to call them back up. [link] [comments] |
NHL 21 Technical Test Pro Am Challenges Posted: 01 Sep 2020 10:41 PM PDT Do we get anything for finishing the beta challenges? They're pretty easy and seem like a waste of time. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 01 Sep 2020 06:47 PM PDT I've only been playing bap ever since I got the game a few weeks ago to learn the controls and get use to the game. I asked here about shooting tips since I'm completely new to hockey games. I felt confident with my play after 4 seasons of bap so I decided to finally take a dip into online. So far I'm enjoying it only problem is that I've played about 20 or so games and I've lost them all. Honestly I don't have an issue with losing because I know I'm probably playing with someone who's put in years into these games and I only started about a month. My main issue I have as a player is puck protection, I watched so many videos and read on here as well on how to improve that. I'll do the skill stick to maneuver around and I'll still manage to get poke sticked. Or I'll back skate to go around a defender but that leaves me open and get rocked by a different defender other the other side. I'm open for any advice to help me improve. Thanks in advance!! For those who change strategies and sliders pre-game: Are your changes saving? [BETA] Posted: 01 Sep 2020 07:06 PM PDT I play a heavy cycle game in the NHL series and adjust my sliders and strategies before I play. I'm noticing in the beta that I'm adjusting them to my liking but the changes aren't being saved when I hit circle (back) and ready up. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 01 Sep 2020 03:36 PM PDT Hey im learning puck control as a fairly new player and most of the movements like protecting the puck and dekes are used with the right stick. But whenever im doing that, if I move my stick even a little up or down it shoots or winds up for a slapshot. How do I stop that? Or do I have to be more precise in moving the right stick? Thanks!
