    I'm in my 5th season (mostly sim) and I'm still referred to as the rookie and whatnot. Also whenever I score in the playoffs the announcer will say something like "wow it's his first playoff goal" when it clearly wasn't. While I appreciate new changes to this new version of BAP, I'm not okay with the laziness of it.

    New Gameplay Idea: Workrates

    FIFA already has this but I think it would make a lot of sense for NHL to implement. Have attacking and defending workrates of High, Medium, and Low.

    For example, players with High attacking workrates and more likely to jump into a rush and skate harder to join the attack. Players with a High defensive workrate backcheck harder or those with Low defensive workrate would start gliding sooner on the backcheck. This would further differentiate how each player feels and acts.

    How do you efficiently play franchise mode?

    I always liked playing Madden franchise mode because of the fact that I season could easily be played in about 2 weeks due to the fact that the seasons are only 16 games long. Same goes for 2k since you have the ability to shorten the season length.

    It bothers me that I don't have the time/patience to play every game of the nhl season. It's really just not feasible to do it anyways.

    My question to you guys is how do you guys go about playing franchise games while maintaining steady progress? How much do you sim? How long are the periods in your games?

    Like is the likeness in the game aka the logo the jersey etc and do the answers actually say kraken lmao

    Player likeness

    I kind of find it odd that they updated Taro Hirose's face in the game and guys like Mantha, Bertuzzi and Hronek still don't look anything like they're supposed to. I know it seems nitpicky, but it's just strange that they don't have some of the bigger name players accurate.

    Be A Pro needs immersiveness and realism not a social engine gimmick

    I am one of those suckers who buys the new NHL every season and exclusively plays BAP on it. I was excited when I heard positive things about BAP mode in NHL 21 but after playing the trial, I am sorely disappointed and this might be the first time I skip buying an NHL game in about 7 years. Here are my thoughts for those who are considering this game primarily for BAP.

    Positives:

    • Really like how you are not guaranteed to play your primary position. On the NHL team I am playing LW eventhough my primary position is a C. This is good and adds an amount of realism to the game. It is not uncommon for rookies to play an alternate position in the real NHL esp if they play a tough position like C and the team already has a bunch of other better Cs on the roster. Kudos to EA for this. A very small thing but goes a long way in improving immersiveness.

    • Being able to play on your off hand when playing D. Again a very small change but adds a great amount of realism.

    • The AI seems to be better esp defensively. The d-men control their gaps, try to stand up at the blue line more often to deny easy zone entries. Zone entries are definitely harder which is good.

    • Having the option to play in the Champion's League prior to being drafted and getting to play in the big ice in this mode is fun. (More on this is the "bad" section)

    The Bad:

    • Not being able to play in the CHL is absolutely a disaster and one of the biggest backwards step in BAP in the history of the game (except for that one version where you couldn't sim through shifts when you were on the bench). The lack of this mode is game-breakingly bad. It kills the realism of being able to control your career from he minors all the way to the NHL.

    • While playing in the champion's league was fun. It sucks that we can't play an entire season in Europe on big ice before getting drafted. This feature alone would have made the game an instant buy for me. This is such a missed opportunity.

    • We still have the exact same stats as we did 10 years ago. It is 2020, why doesn't the game have Corsi stats in it? That would be so easy to implement- it is basically a few extra counters and the same mechanic as recording shots. A small thing like that would have added so much realism and immersiveness.

    • The gimmick of social interaction and it influencing your career sucks. I feel like when this mode was called "Living the Life" in like NHL 13 days, it had a better execution of this feature. The objectives assigned are often completely unrealistic- I was given the objective to score 3 points in my 3rd game as a rookie in the NHL. That's just so dumb and stupid and so unrealistic that it takes me out of it. After a while I just found myself yada-yadaing through the Q/A stuff.

    • The fact that you are almost guaranteed to be drafted 1st or 2nd overall no matter what you do is bad and kills realism for me. One of the best part of BAP was that you could decide the kind of player you want to be. You could be a slow 6'6 enforcer who takes lots of penalties, be drafted in the 3rd round and have a career in the NHL. The game used to give you the option of being a Ryan Reeves or a Sidney Crosby based on what you wanted. That is no longer present. You basically start off as a superstar "generational talent" in this game pretty much what you do. That seems like a big step backward. In previous BAPs, I could choose to be a superstar or choose to be big hitting grinder, or anything in between, taking that choice away is a big step backwards.

    Instead of wasting time on this social interaction stuff in this game. I wish they had taken a few steps to increase the realism of the game. We still can't watch the draft and see the other players drafted along us and follow their careers. Wish as a draft eligible you could play in the World Jrs.

    Again, I am not hard to please, I buy the game every season and usually find the slight improvements in the AI and game mechanics enough to justify buying it but I don't think I'll be doing so this season. They have done great damage to BAP in this version and it is a big step backwards.

    Scouting is completely broken ... again... auto scout just isn't working and when you do it manually it's just as bad.

    Injury question

    I'm an enforcer and have recieved a couple of injuries (broken hand, broken jaw, seperated shoulder). Do injuries affect fighting? Noticed I seem to be a little slower to throw punches.

    Can someone explain offsides to me. I don't get why the opposing team can have every player attacking my goal but if I put even a toe into their side I get flagged for being offside.

    Also, in CHEL mode where you pick a position, wtf do the letters mean? I get C is Center but what about the others? Why is there only D and not LD or RD. I get that D is defense, right?

    BEAGM Potential concern trade dead line

    So I just watched a video of someone doing a sim of his season and highlighting some of the new changes. He was showing the trade deadline and I a bit concerned.

    It seemed like the trades were coming fast and furious and like 3 pages of trades around the league and not one off on his side.

    It could be a few variables but I had that feeling that is possible the new feature is just broken?

    Any one else have notice this or any comments from the early access users?

    Hut Master Icon Choice Packs Not Opening

    I got one of these packs from playing EASHL and anytime I try to open it an error message pops up. Anyone know why this might be? I looked through the subreddit and hadn't seen anyone bring it up so wanted to see if anyone knows anything about this. The same thing is happening to my roommate too.
