    While playing Be A Pro in NHL 21, I've encountered numerous bugs and problems so far, that either break the game or the immersion (or simply show that the game is an unfinished product). I'll be sending these to EA feedback system as well with a child-like hope that they would actually do something. Anyway, here's a list, feel free to add to it:

    1. Coach's Challenge / Promise system is broken. For example, you get asked to be the 1st star and outscore the opposing rookie in the next game. After accomplishing this, the challenge still failed. Another one was "Get at least an A rating in offense", I got A+ and the challenge failed. Third one would be getting a challenge to score 2 goals, but failing after scoring 3.
      Also, sometimes the after-game conversation with coach does not acknowledge that the game is already over, with the dialogue going along the lines of: "You failed to score." - The game is not over yet, coach.

    2. Conversations and challenges seem to be always initiated by the same teammate, please add some variation there. Now I have Filip Chytil (without proper likeliness in-game, too) telling me what to do every time.

    3. Likeability meters are too easy to fill up, after 15-20 games or so they were already nearly full. Conversation choices become redundant as the negative impact is quickly overwritten by the positive again.

    4. Also, likeability seems to have close to no impact on player career or gameplay. Balancing them needs to be more challenging and there needs to be more tangible consequences.

    5. My pro's primary position is C, and secondary RW. I seem to be exclusively placed on the wing on an NHL team. Does it have to do with overall rating or what? Give us some indication why we aren't playing our primary position.

    6. The training system needs a rework, selecting training sessions one by one every time is incredibly tedious and highly encourages using auto-training, which is not very exciting or immersive either. Perhaps let us choose a training focus for a longer period or save presets.

    7. The inability to play full seasons in Europe or CHL is a huge disappointment and feels like we were given false advertising.

    8. There is no option to randomise draft order, and since you can't play a season in juniors first, the draft order will always be the same. Give us some options to scramble the draft order.

    9. Request a trade button is missing, give it back please.

    10. Contract negotiation options are extremely limited and unimmersive. There needs to be more options for how the player wants to proceed with the negotiations.

    11. Altogether it seems that players are only expected to play the first season, and after that the Be A Pro experience is just as bare-bones as before. There are reports of players still getting referred to as "rookie" in their 3rd season.

    12. Please let us skip cutscenes. They add a nice touch, but they also interrupt the flow of the game and get repetitive quickly. Also goes for the BAP intro, there is no reason for not letting us skip it.

    13. Blonde hair (long variants) still appears as light brown/dirty blonde in-game instead of actual blonde. This bug has been in game for several years now.

    14. Why can't we import slider presets into Be A Pro? The functionality to save and load slider presets is there in the main settings, please extend it to Be A Pro, too.

    15. If our number is taken in Be A Pro, please give us the option to choose another number that is available (there used to be a grid of numbers and which ones are available in some of the past titles, just pop that thing up and let us choose a number!)

    16. According to the reports, you can't get sent down to AHL no matter how bad you play. This is highly unimmersive as getting sent down is an integral part in growth and development for many rookies.

    While I do think that the gameplay feels better than in NHL 20, the BAP mode does not warrant all the hype and advertising it received. It is ridden with many seemingly small bugs and problems, and when you put all of them together, it results in this unfinished mess we have now. I'm not complaining or nit-picking, but simply providing constructive criticism in hopes of getting the game we need and deserve. I hope others will do the same.

    Franchise Mode Coaching

    I buy the new game and come to find that the coaching system in franchise mode still sucks. Why are coaches asking for more money than my whole coaching budget? It's literally impossible for me to sign a good coach even if I have no other staff hired

    Wow! So impressive how EA does so much and so little at the same time.

    We complain a lot about EA but for good reason.

    My biggest issue with Be a Pro in past years was the contract offers. Maybe it's my fault for getting my hopes up but guess what guys? getting only 2 offers at 2 years after dominating the league every season is here to stay! 😎 so epic. No way to even negotiate offers or hold off on contracts. EA once again just pops 2 teams on the screen for you to choose from.

    EA is so incredibly lazy. James Cyballsack is still calling me a rookie in my 3rd season, reporters are asking me if a good performance against Vancouver would help me in the Calder race against — wait for it... JAKE VIRTANEN? When neither of us are rookies!

    Be A Simp: this game mode just has you licking the floor behind your teammates, coach and management.

    Me pretty much on my knees ready to give him a BJ:

    "SURE VITALI! How do you, a 20 point guy suggest I improve my play? because in this universe I can't tell you "Well, I'm a playmaker and I'm more comfortable setting the boys up". So I guess ill just be forced into accepting your challenge!" (which usually aren't hard at all)

    Don't complete the challenge? No worries! Your 4th line teammate will tell you to be more accountable and stick to your word. Thank you Mr. 9 Minutes of Ice Time! I should be more like you and not notch 90 points a season!

    This year was obviously a jump for Be A Pro as we haven't had something like this in a while. But just like I said, did a lot and so little at the same time.

    Boooooo.

    EDIT: One thing that kinda goes hard is no longer being taken off lines when you sim a lot. Maybe I got lucky but it looks like they took that out of the game.

    Does EA not know what a wrist shot is?

    HUT Rush challenge, "Take 20 wrist shots"..

    Listen, I've been playing these games for the better part of my entire life (I'm 33) and I sure as hell know what constitutes as a wrist shot, but EA apparently doesn't since in the 40+ games I've played, I've got a grand total of 4/20...you take more wrist shots by ACCIDENT in 40 games, but no... No matter where I shoot from, if I hold the stick just to the the side or crank it all the way back and load up a bullet..all "snap shots"...

    Am I the only one having this issue? It's an obviously small annoyance but still..

    Instead of going through the CHL tournament I decided to just start on the Edmonton Oilers.

    With that comes a 1 year contract. Due to this being my first Be a pro, I wanted to test the game out a bit so I went ahead and broke all of the rookie records. I ended up with 179 points at 17 years old. (stupid i know)

    Either way, at the end of the season they gave me a new contract. 12.5Mil for 2 years (private island here i come). I'm actually quite happy with that as it seems like they're handing out contracts based off of performance and not overall. I was a 79 overall.

    I start up season 2 and they give me the captain...... they took it away from Mcdavid and gave it to a 17 year old. I can mildly understand that as I did put up an insane amount of points, i just thought it was kind of funny how quickly you can get the captaincy.

    I put rant but it's not really an angry rant but the product EA puts out is so confusing as to how they put in features that are a really good idea but then the little things that make it a great mode are just not there. For example, be a pro is a great improvement, yes the cut scenes get annoying but at least they're in the game but what gets me is the little things like how you can't play a full CHL season or that you can't randomize the draft class or your "free agency" is a choice between 1-2 year deals with ur team and a random one and then when u sign it, there is a 90% chance you become the captain... like what? The drafting makes no sense anyway, I'm a goalie and I have a really good Mem. Cup but that shouldn't make me a top prospect, why would LA or NY draft me when they have Quick and Shetserkin respectively, I should drop to a team like Nashville or Edmonton like Askarov irl and then when I struggle and the coach doesn't like me why can't I request a trade? In franchise mode the scouts don't do anything, like how did they work last year and magically stop working this year, I have no clue where any gems are but I do know players ranked 900-1100 are all AHL top 9 F and then since chemistry is such a vital part of team building why can't I scout a player to see what their preferred line chem is, my scout told me Hinestroza was a perfect fit for my bottom 6 so I traded for him and he didn't have one green check mark, in fact the only line he was good on was my first line, it's a crapshoot as to if you can find players that fit ur coach's chem because if u don't you're gonna get smacked by Buffalo who has Eichel Hall and Olofsson with a +5 scoring 30 goals a game. Overall the game is better than last year and if you're like me where u play WOC with ur buddies most of the time, it's a really fun game but it's bewildering how EA delays the game a month and is also one of the biggest video game companies on the planet but they can't fix little bugs that take the fun out of some gamemodes. I can't wait to keep taking one year contracts in BAP until I get the islanders and then keep signing 1-2 year deals with them 🙄. And HUT is unplayable, I'm sorry I don't either spend 100s of dollars or prowl the market 24/7 to get the best players, because if I don't I get beat by 10 year olds who know nothing but short side wrister and cross crease which my inferior d men can't stop, another example of good idea, poor execution

    I did a simple test against the CPU in play now. First game I played with a 99 ovr team against another 99 ovr team. It was a close game and a fair one. The second game I played with the same team but against a 70 ovr team. This game was also close but not fun at all. I expected that I should crush this low rated team but my players could not hit the net and my goalie could not stop a beach ball. It was obvious, dynamic difficulty is 100% in NHL 21 too.

    Has anyone actually been able to play center in BAP?

    As far as I can tell, the game forces you to choose a secondary position. Then when you get to the NHL, they will play you on the wing instead of at center.

    Does the coach eventually put you at center when your overall is higher/when you move up the lineup? Or is this another broken feature we can add to the list?

    EA has really outdone themselves for worst game again. This time they managed to do everything wrong and not fix a single thing. God this game gets me frustrated playing it. EA likes to put more effort into trailers then fixing the game itself. I mean, we all were hyped for NHL 21 because how each trailer was represented as a new innovative game mode and it FLOPPED. BAP isn't even as fun anymore. The god awful repeating dialogue, the reuse of your year one draft convos. The fact we can sign for only 2 years for 2 teams. The fact that we are playing in the '20 draft and not the option to play a full season to get drafted in '21. May I go on? Franchise Mode is for another sub to rant on. What i'm getting at is that this is the worst NHL experience i've ever played yet. This game makes NHL 18 look godly.

    Do you believe there’s any Be A Pro patch coming, or is this just it for this year?

    I LOVE that they took a step in the right direction with trying to give us more offline content and overhauled Be A Pro. However, this still needs a TON of polish. I have no doubt these dialogue and logic issues could be patched, updated and fixed within 2 months. But... I don't know it they're going to. Is this our game this year, swiss cheese product and all?

    Be a Pro mode is at the forefront of all their marketing and promotional material as the reason to buy this game. Before Christmas, and the next wave of NHL 21 purchases, do you think they'll actually release a patch?,

    Anyone else have the problem of Be a Pro being too easy? Im 73 overall and on Superstar i blow by defenseman like its in pro. Also, once i get to the first line theres no line changes? I play 60 minutes a game and yes im on authentic.

    Be a Pro Cap Question

    I'm wondering if anyone has ever checked their Team's Payroll against the Cap?

    Normally I never do this, but in NHL20, I was drafted by Ottawa and by Year 3 of my ELC, I started checking to see what players were being paid and I was shocked at:

    • Lehner: $10.5M/8yrs
    • Tkachuk: $8.5M/6yrs
    • Batherson: $11M/5yrs
    • Formenton: $10M/6yrs
    • Chabot: $9M/6yrs

    All in all, they were sitting at just over $100M for that year. I'm 99% positive I'm playing with the Cap enabled. Now that my Pro is on the Oilers, they're pushing almost $90M.

    Is free agency still broken where you only get 2 offers? Trying to navigate my player to Tampa, even if that means taking less (typical Tampa GM strategy). Wonder if I should demand trade for season 3 and see what happens or just wait for free agency.

    Does this game give you options to talk with your agent and request a desire spot?

    EASHL AI Defensive Pressure Soft gap control

    my team has only played about 15 games; but does anyone have the same observation?

    the D AI has trouble closing the gap along the boards when a forward is rushing down the boards?

    It's weird seeing AI get walked/blown by without them trying to either poke check or even hit when there's a clear opportunity to take the body when they have the angle on the boards to close off forwards.

    they get through every single time. They are better at defending the rush down the middle though its just the board rushes that are frustrating.

    Now obviously this can also work in my favour as our team can do it too it's just jarring that D can't seem to close off space or pressure players to the perimeter when they're breaking in.

    My d zone pressure is 'high pressure' too and they come off really soft.

    Can’t cycle lines in single player modes?

    I started a franchise mode and you can't manually cycle through your teams lines when playing in the game. Your players don't get fatigued and just stay on the ice the whole game. Is this a bug or a setting I accidentally turned on? If not, why is that the default setting? I played a normal single player game too and it was the same way. Can't seem to figure out how to change it or make sense of why it's like that. Anyone else have this issue and know how to fix it?

    Has anyone accomplished the Up the Pressure challenge in BaP 21?

    I saw another post about this but no concrete answers yet.

    I keep getting challenged to "Up the Pressure" by the coaches, but I never pass or fail that challenge. It's always just neutral.

    I've tried generating any quality shots, dumping and forechecking, etc... to the best of my ability, but I guess technically I haven't scored when I get that as a challenge so maybe that's it?

    If so then that is super weird because the other option is always a challenge to just score anyway.

    Has anyone ever passed or failed this challenge and, if so, was it more clear what you did right/wrong?
