BAP - Any way to not be drafted 1st, 2nd, or 160th?

    Posted: 04 Nov 2020 02:29 AM PST

Literally any other draft position would be awesome- I've flunked games, or played with just a single assist, and always end up as one of those three draft picks.

I read that someone went 58th as a grinder? I tried played in Rimouski for the Memorial to try and help Lafreniere secure 1st, but feeding him just gave me 1st overall.

Maybe its player type? Do 2 way forwards or grinders help lower your draft stock?

Anyone been drafted late first round?

    Thanks guys!

Does anyone know how to do the "point" celebration in NHL 21?

    Posted: 04 Nov 2020 11:33 AM PST

EA used to have a celebration in the game where you could tap up on the right stick and it would point, as though you were acknowledging a teammate who setup the play. I've yet to figure out how to do it in 21, if that's even possible. If you know how to do it, I'd certainly appreciate it. Thank you!

So when's ea going to drop an update on this garbage

    Posted: 04 Nov 2020 10:01 AM PST

I've seen guys with one arm take slap shots harder then in this game. The defense is terrible. If I have a guy like eckblad ekholm or petry and you come down with st Louis you don't get to bounce off a defenseman you get laid out. The defensive awareness is horrendous. It's physically impossible to pick off passes.

Be a Pro off-season is terrible.

I just finished a season with Minnesota, won almost every individual trophy possible, including the Conn Smyth. I'm a free agent and received 2 offers. One from Minnesota and one from Dallas. I'm a Detroit fan and just want to play for my wings... 65 goals, 117 points, 2 separate 2 year offers?

    Attribute system overhaul

    Posted: 03 Nov 2020 02:33 PM PST

Any developers in here? Can we get some changes to player attributes with the next generation NHL games, please?

    1. Talk to a few NHL teams' pro scouts, a few NHL players, and some analytics experts in order to create realistic player ratings. It's been said forever that the game uses scouts' opinions, but I don't buy that anymore. You can clearly see the impact of public perception and veteran status in the ratings. Ovi shouldn't be tied for the 2nd-best player in the league. Doughty isn't a top-10 defenceman anymore. McDavid is the best player in the league, but it's due to his insane skating and offence. His defensive awareness is comically high. Pastrnak and Matthews should be up near Ovi in shooting.

Even the numbers within individual teams are messed up. How is Marner 5 overall above Nylander? Worse yet, Marner has higher shooting attributes, and higher strength. Like, did nobody watch the Leafs this year? Nylander is a tank in front of the net, which is why he was like 1st or 2nd in goals from that area of the ice, and had a low average shot distance. Don't let the 60-year-old "beard and sunglasses selfie profile pic" guys sway your opinion of a player that they never gave a chance and labelled "soft" because he has a Swedish name.

    1. Add a release attribute to control how quickly a player goes through the shot animations. Some guys don't have super hard shots, but they're still dangerous due to having a quick release.

    2. Remove poise. It's silly.

    3. Allow players to click on an attribute in the create/edit player screens and bring up a description of exactly how adjusting the attribute will effect play.

    4. Don't have height/weight and attributes both impact how good a player is at hitting, balance, etc. Have it controlled entirely by attributes. Yes, bigger players are stronger, so just give them higher ratings. It's too difficult right now to determine how players will perform, because you're guessing how much size will adjust the players' ability to hit and stuff. Like, is a 6'0" guy with 90 body checking going to hit harder than a guy who's 6'6" with 75 body checking? We just don't know.

Lack of penalties vs. AI in 21

    Posted: 03 Nov 2020 03:37 PM PST

So first things first, I want to acknowledge that the gameplay vs AI in 21 is a drastic improvement from previous versions. My AI teammates and CPU players behave so much more intelligently in this year's iteration. But I'm afraid the pendulum has swung so far in the direction of clean gameplay that penalties are now a rarity and I am essentially playing 5v5 the entire game.

In NHL 20, the CPU was constantly clutching, grabbing, and hooking. So much that it felt like a 90's slogfest every game. This unrealistic gameplay drove me bonkers, but I was able to adjust sliders to where both the CPU and me/AI teammates generated about 4-5 penalties a game which felt like a good amount.

In 21, they have pretty much eliminated the clutching and grabbing which makes for a much better experience. But the CPU and AI teammates virtually never commit a penalty now. Even when they are beaten and rightly should. I'm only generating 1-2 penalties per side in a game now.

I am playing on all-star level. 4 minute periods with penalties set to 4/4. CPU penalties 100/100 and CPU teammate penalties at 93/100. In 6 games played with these settings I have only generated 9 penalties for and 10 against.

Is it just me or are other people experiencing the same issue? If so, have you figured out settings to increase the amount of penalty calls per game? I'm not necessarily wanting the refs to call penalties for minor infractions. I would just prefer to have the AI be a little less passive. I'm going to experiment with cranking up the aggression on the checking options. I also haven't adjusted any of the sliders on specific penalty calls yet either, so I guess that will be the next step. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

PK ratings still dropping and not even on the PK!?

    Posted: 03 Nov 2020 01:48 PM PST

Can someone explain that PK ratings to me? I'm on be a pro and got kicked off the PK cuz goals were presumably going in. Now I'm lucky to get 20s in a game and have been doing a lot better. Even in games where I have an A rating on defence and when I don't play a minute on the PK, sometimes I see my rating still drop! Sometimes by over 100pts. Can someone explain the system for me please?
